My theme color isn't propagating

CSS variable refresh and where it's used.

You changed your brand colour but the page didn't update.

Most common cause: cache

Your browser cached the old CSS. Fix:

  • Hard refresh: Cmd-Shift-R or Ctrl-Shift-R

Where the brand colour shows up

  • Back office sidebar
  • Book of the Month panel
  • Placeholder gradients for books without covers
  • Hero banner overlay (when no banner image is set)

Verify the change

Settings → Appearance → Brand Colour. The selected colour should show. If it doesn't, the change didn't save. Re-save.

Page elements not updating

Some elements use fixed colours (not the brand colour) — for example, error messages are always red. If a specific element didn't change, it's expected.

Custom CSS overrides

If you've added custom CSS to override the brand colour, those overrides still apply. Remove them in Settings → Appearance → Custom CSS.

Email templates

Emails use the brand colour for headers and accents. If you changed the colour, NEW emails will use it. Old emails in patrons' inboxes won't update (that's how email works).
