View and download invoices
Where to find invoice history in the Customer Portal.
See, download, and email your invoice history through the Stripe Customer Portal.
Where
Settings → Billing → Manage subscription → Invoices
The Stripe-hosted Customer Portal lists every invoice — paid, pending, or failed — going back to your first subscription month.
What's in an invoice
- Invoice number (e.g., INV-001234)
- Issue date and due date
- Line items (your plan, plus any plan changes or proration)
- Subtotal, taxes (where applicable), and total
- Payment method used
- Your billing address
Downloading PDFs
Each invoice has a "Download invoice" button. The PDF is signed and suitable for accounting / expense reports.
Emailing copies to your bookkeeper
In the Portal: Account → Billing email — set the recipient address. Every future invoice goes there automatically.
For a one-off send of a past invoice: open the invoice → click "Email invoice" → enter the recipient.
Tax handling
If your library is in a US state or country where Stripe charges sales tax / VAT, taxes are automatically calculated and itemized on the invoice. The PDF is suitable for reclaim if eligible.
Receipts vs invoices
A receipt confirms a payment was made. An invoice is the bill itself. Stripe generates both for every charge. Both are available in the Portal under "Invoices".
Historical invoices before Stripe
Invoices from before you added Stripe (e.g., a manual invoice we sent during a custom-plan trial) aren't in the Portal. Email hello@tryshelfwise.com if you need a copy.
