Switch plans (upgrade or downgrade)
Mid-cycle effects and how proration works.
Move between Starter, Community, and Custom plans any time. Changes take effect immediately and are prorated.
Where
Settings → Billing → Available plans → click "Switch to {plan}"
Upgrading
Going to a bigger plan (Starter → Community, or Community → Custom):
- New plan takes effect immediately
- You're charged the difference for the rest of your current billing period
- Your next monthly bill is the full new-plan amount
For example, mid-month Starter → Community: you're charged ~$15 immediately (the prorated difference) and on your next bill it's $49 full.
Downgrading
Going to a smaller plan (Community → Starter):
- New plan takes effect at the start of your next billing period
- You keep your current plan's features until then
- No refund — you've already paid for the current period
If you're over the new plan's limits (e.g., you have 800 patrons but want Starter's 150 cap), the downgrade is blocked until you bring the numbers down or contact us.
Custom plans
For Custom (Enterprise) pricing, contact us at hello@tryshelfwise.com or click "Contact sales" from the plans grid. We'll talk through your library size, integrations, and SLA needs.
What stays the same
Switching plans doesn't change anything about your data, branding, or settings. Only the limits and feature gates change.
Annual billing
Switching from monthly to annual (or vice versa) is also done through the plans grid. Annual gets a 2-month discount — pay for 10 months, get 12.
