Cancel your subscription
What "until end of period" means and how your data is retained.
Cancel your Shelfwise subscription whenever you'd like. There's no penalty and no contract.
Where
Settings → Billing → Manage subscription → Cancel plan
This opens the Stripe Customer Portal where the cancellation flow lives.
What "cancel" means
Two options:
- Cancel at period end (default): You keep full access until your current billing period ends. No refund, but no further charges.
- Cancel immediately: Cancel right now. We can issue a prorated refund — email hello@tryshelfwise.com.
Most libraries pick the period-end option so they don't lose access mid-month.
What happens to my data
Your data stays exactly where it is for at least 90 days after cancellation. Patrons, books, loans, branding — all preserved.
After 90 days:
- Your library moves to long-term hold (slower restore but still recoverable)
- We may email you confirming what's happening
We don't delete data unilaterally. If you want full deletion, email hello@tryshelfwise.com with a request and we'll permanently remove your library after a confirmation email.
What patrons see
After cancellation takes effect, patrons see the paywall screen ("Your library is paused"). They can't browse the catalogue or place holds.
Coming back
Re-subscribing brings you back online instantly. See "Re-subscribe after cancellation".
Before cancelling, consider
- Downgrading to a smaller plan instead — Starter is $19/month
- Asking for a pause: email hello@tryshelfwise.com if you need a few months off due to seasonality or building renovations
- A custom annual plan with lower cost — talk to us
