Update your card or billing details
Using the Stripe Customer Portal.
Update your payment method, billing address, or other Stripe-managed details through the Customer Portal.
Where
Settings → Billing → Manage subscription (or "Manage payment")
This opens the Stripe Customer Portal — a Stripe-hosted page where you can manage everything billing-related.
What you can do in the Portal
- Add a new card
- Remove an old card
- Set a different card as default
- Update your billing address
- Update your billing email (where invoices and receipts go)
- View past invoices and receipts
- Change plans
- Cancel subscription
Updating just the card
- Manage subscription → Payment methods
- Click "Add payment method" → enter new card
- Set the new card as default
- Optionally remove the old card
The new card takes effect immediately. Your next invoice charges to the new default.
Failed payment recovery
If a charge fails (expired card, insufficient funds), Stripe automatically retries on a smart schedule (3 attempts over 7-14 days). Each failure triggers a "payment failed" email to your billing address with a one-click "Update payment method" link.
When does my card get charged?
- Monthly plans: same day each month as your original signup
- Annual plans: same day each year as your original signup or plan change
- Plan changes mid-cycle: charged immediately for the prorated difference
