What you can update

  • First and last name
  • Email address (used for sign-in and notifications)
  • Phone number
  • Password
  • Family — see "Manage your family"

Changing your email

Important: email is also your login. If you change it, you'll sign in with the new email next time.

We don't require email verification by default, but for changes that look suspicious (different domain, multiple changes in a short time) we may send a verification link to the new address.

Changing your password

  • Enter current password
  • Enter new password (8+ characters recommended)
  • Confirm new password
  • Save

You stay signed in after a password change. To sign out other sessions (e.g., a device you no longer use), see "Sign in to your Shelfwise library".

Phone number

Used by your library to reach you for urgent matters (e.g., a book you've put on hold has been damaged). Not used for marketing.

Things you can't change

  • Your library affiliation — accounts are tied to one library; to use a different library, create a separate account there
  • Your role — librarians and admins set this for you
  • Your patron card number — librarians can regenerate this, but you can't change it yourself

Children's accounts

If you're an adult in a family with children's patron accounts, you can edit those too from the Family section of the portal.
