Cancel your hold
The hover-to-cancel button on the Hold Placed pill.
Cancel a hold any time before you pick up the book.
From a book card
On any catalogue card showing your "Hold placed" state, hover (or tap on mobile) — the button changes to "Cancel hold". Click to cancel.
From the book detail page
The same hover behavior works on the larger hold button.
From the portal
Portal → My holds → click "Cancel" next to any hold.
Confirmation
A confirmation prompt appears before cancelling. Click "Yes, cancel" to proceed.
What happens after
- The book is removed from your holds list
- If you were on a waitlist, your spot is freed for the next person
- If the hold was ready for pickup, the book becomes available for the next patron immediately
Cancelled-by-mistake
If you cancel by mistake, place the hold again right away. You'll be at the back of any existing queue, but for available books you'll have it again instantly.
No penalty
Cancelled holds don't affect your patron score. Cancel as many as you'd like.
