How "newest" is computed and how to hide it.
The Newest Items section on the homepage shows the most recently added books in your catalogue.
How "newest" is computed
By the date a book was added to the catalogue (not the publication date). Books added today appear first.
Hiding it
Settings → Appearance → Homepage Sections → toggle off Newest Items.
Showing more or fewer
Default: 5 books. Change in Settings → Appearance → Newest Items Count (5, 10, 15, 20).
Alternative orderings
The same section can sort by publication date instead of date added. Useful for libraries that catalogue books at acquisition but want patrons to see truly new publications. Settings → Appearance → Newest Items Sort.
Filtering Newest Items
You can filter to specific genres or tags — e.g., only show new children's books. Useful for specialized libraries that want patrons to see truly relevant new arrivals.
"Newest" emails
A weekly "New this week" email can be sent to patrons. Settings → Email Templates → Newest Items Digest.
