Series and "more in this series"
How series get linked, surfacing related books.
Series let you group books that belong together — like the Chronicles of Narnia, a multi-volume biography, or a long-running commentary set.
Adding a series
Catalog → Edit a book → Series field → type the series name.
Use a consistent name. "Chronicles of Narnia" and "The Chronicles of Narnia" are different — type-ahead suggestions help you pick existing series.
Series number (volume)
If your book is part of a numbered series, add the volume number in the Series Number field. Used for sorting "more in this series" lists.
Where series appear
- On the book detail page — a "More in this series" section lists other volumes
- On the patron's saved books — series get grouped
- In search — searching the series name returns all volumes
Multi-author series
A series can have multiple authors. Useful for:
- Anthology series with rotating editors and contributors
- Reference and commentary series with one volume per topic
- Tribute series collecting many authors' work on a theme
Renaming a series
Catalog → Series → find the series → Edit. The change propagates to every book in the series.
Series filter
Patrons can filter the catalogue by Series in the sidebar. Useful for libraries with many themed series.
Series in collections
Add an entire series to a collection: Collections → Edit collection → Add by series → pick the series. All volumes are added at once.
