Patron requests inbox

Patrons suggesting books and the staff triage workflow.

Patrons can suggest books for your library to acquire.

Where patrons request

Portal → "Request a book" → fill in title, author, ISBN (optional), reason.

Where staff see requests

Settings → Patron Requests → list of all incoming requests.

Triage workflow

For each request:

  • Open it
  • Review (does this fit your library's focus?)
  • Mark as: Accepted, Declined, or Pending Review
  • Add a note (optional, sent to the patron)

Accepted requests

When marked Accepted, you can:

  • Add the book to your catalogue via Bulk ISBN Import (one-click from the request)
  • Or manually add the book
  • The patron gets an email when the book is available

Declined requests

Patron gets a polite "thanks but no" email. Customize the message in Settings → Email Templates → Request Declined.

Pending Review

Use this status to set aside requests for further consideration. Doesn't email the patron.

Notifications to staff

New requests trigger an admin notification. Settings → Notifications → New Patron Requests → toggle.

Patron-side view

Patrons see their own requests in Portal → My Requests with the current status.
