Migrating from ResourceMate

CSV columns to map.

Migrate your library from ResourceMate to Shelfwise.

Export from ResourceMate

  • ResourceMate → File → Export → Books
  • Choose CSV format
  • Include all fields
  • Save as resourcemate_books.csv

Mapping ResourceMate columns to Shelfwise

  • ResourceMate "Title" → Shelfwise "title"
  • ResourceMate "Author" → Shelfwise "author_name"
  • ResourceMate "ISBN" → Shelfwise "isbn"
  • ResourceMate "Genre/Subject" → Shelfwise "genre"
  • ResourceMate "Description" → Shelfwise "description"
  • ResourceMate "Copies" → Add separately via Shelfwise's Add Copies workflow
  • ResourceMate "Barcode" → Shelfwise "barcode" on each copy

Cleaning the CSV

Common issues from ResourceMate exports:

  • Author names like "Wilson, Doug" — Shelfwise prefers "Doug Wilson" (we can handle either)
  • HTML in descriptions — strip out tags
  • Encoding: save as UTF-8 to avoid character issues

Importing

  • Settings → Migration → CSV Import
  • Upload your cleaned CSV
  • Preview shows mapping
  • Confirm and import

Patrons separately

Export patrons from ResourceMate the same way:

  • File → Export → Patrons
  • Save as resourcemate_patrons.csv
  • Map columns: first_name, last_name, email, card_number
  • Import via Patrons → Bulk Import

Loan history

Loan history doesn't auto-migrate. Two options:

  • Skip it (most libraries don't need historical loans)
  • Custom migration (contact us for paid service)
